But Can You Make it with Textured Vegetable Protein?

A review of the KFC Famous Bowl on AV Club. I've heard of Patton Oswalt before, but have never seen any of his stand-up. After reading this, I might have to:

Eww, ick. Angst in a bowl.

I think even the proverbial "starving children in China" (in my family it was "starving children in Biafra") would refuse the Famous Bowl.

That being said, I can see where gravy, chicken (Textured Vegetable Protein chik'n, of course!), and potatoes all mixed together could be mighty tasty. I can't see how the corn and cheese fit into the equation, though.

Patton Oswalt rocks. You should definitely see/hear his stand-up. We have his latest CD, which features the KFC rant:

"...We can also arrange those on a plate like you're an adult with dignity and self-respect, you don't have to actually eat your food out of a single bowl..."

I have incorporated the phrase "like an adult with dignity and self-respect" into my everyday speech. You'd be amazed how often it's relevant.

Here's the full bit, if you haven't already heard it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfan5MacmsI

Patton also does a bit on NPR that is pretty darn funny. I couldn't find it on youtube, but it was playing on Comedy Central a while back (when we still lived in the USofA). He plays a regular on a tv sitcom, The King of Queens, as well that we used to watch every once in a while.

I managed to find and have set the TiVo to record two Oswalt comedy central specials. Although Dr. Nate tells me it's kind of "guy humor," I'm looking for a new favorite comedian since the death of my old favorite, Mitch Hedberg
